Mary Ann Pires, who has worked in Greenville since 2000, has more than 30 years of diversified Public Relations experience. Ms. Pires' background includes managing for such Fortune 500 companies as John Hancock, Chevron-Texaco, and Combustion Engineering (now A.B.B.), and providing services to both corporations and entrepreneurs for the past 25 years as the head of her own consulting firm. By working for and with a wide variety of businesses, Ms. Pires has developed some of the field's pioneering work in Public Relations Marketing, Strategic Philanthropy and Government Relations. Ms. Pires has also written and spoken extensively for over 20 years on Public Relations and Public Affairs topics, both in the United States and abroad.

Ms. Pires has held a variety of not-for-profit positions, including Public Relations Director for the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and Youth Director for the Saginaw County (MI) United Way.

While with Texaco in the '80's, Ms. Pires initiated a prototype Government Relations Program that built reciprocal relationships with consumer and public interest groups. The program's success attracted international attention, and it became the forerunner of similar ones, including those of The American Bankers Association, The American Petroleum Institute and The American Council of Life Insurers.

Ms. Pires has been an active volunteer for over 30 years, having once been honored at The White House for her exceptional volunteerism. She holds a B.A. in Sociology from Nazareth College in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and an M.S. in Public Relations from the Boston University College of Communication, which honored her in 1998 as one of its “Distinguished Alumni.”
